Representatives of the steering committee of the national competition for participation in the contest - Ukraine 3000, the National Television Company of Ukraine and the Artek international children's center - held on December 8, 2007 talks with EBU heads in Rotterdam on the possibility of holding Eurovision 2009 in Ukraine. That time the EBU heads showed interest in this proposal.

On June 6, 2008, the EBU decided that the Child Eurovision 2009 will take place in Ukraine.
