Turkish State Minister speaks at a women's symposium in Berlin
Nimet Cubukcu made opening remarks of a symposium on "Women in Turkish Literature and Cultural Debates" in Berlin.

Turkish State Minister Nimet Cubukcu said women have played a centric role in expression of intercultural difference since the beginning of modern era.
"Women function as a symbolic and cultural ground and communities put their moral order on this ground," Cubukcu said.
Literature brought together different cultures on a common point, she said.
"Literature has cultural characteristics. However, we can also acquire information about common humankind experiences through literature," Cubukcu said.
Turkey and Germany had deep-rooted political, cultural and friendly ties and the two countries should exert efforts to boost the dialogue, she stated.
