Spokesman of the Turkish Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee and a Justice and Development (AK) Party deputy from Cankiri province, Suat Kiniklioglu, said Wednesday that the Turkish society is in an agreement on a civilian constitution, a constitution that the European Union (EU) insists on strongly.
Speaking after meeting various EU leaders, including EU Commissioner in charge of enlargement Olli Rehn, Kiniklioglu stressed that he does not expect the Progress Report to be publicized on November 5 to cause difficulties for Turkey.
"The EU has important expectations from Turkey. The Turkish society has agreed on a civilian constitution as is required by the EU Commission," Kiniklioglu said.
Referring to the main opposition Republican People's Party's (CHP) opening a representation in Brussels, Kiniklioglu said that this is pleasing to see.
"I hope that CHP's office in Brussels helps the party to correct confusions on the EU," Kiniklioglu added
