TRILLION SHOCK TO CHP
Constitutional Court discovered nearly one million YTL (one trillion with former Turkish lira) of irregularities in the accounts of main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) covering four years. The court asked Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor to indict CHP executives. CHP's group acting chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu said that those responsible for the issue would be brought to court.

PANIC IN MARMARIS
Two forest fires broke out in Armutalan hamlet of Marmaris town in western province of Mugla at 3:00 p.m. yesterday. Fire spread due to wind, and caused panic in touristic facilities as well as residences. Several facilities were evacuated. The fire was taken under control in the evening.

HE GAVE SECULARISM MESSAGE
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who attended graduation ceremony of Police Academy, said that police and soldiers were the guards of secularism.

South Korea, which has been in a collapse since 2002 World Cup, wants to bring Fatih Terim to manage its football. South Korea Federation said, "we offer you a blank check, save us." Terim has not responded yet.

The fire which broke out in Armutalan region of Marmaris resort town in western province of Mugla rapidly grew. People panicked when flames got 10 meters near hotels and residences. The fire was taken under control partially.

An inspection made by the U.S. Air Forces indicate that the nuclear weapons at the Incirlik Air Base are not being kept in a secure atmosphere. According to Hans Kristensen, a nuclear weapons expert, there are deficiencies involved in the security of nuclear bombs at the Incirlik Air Base.

The record rise in oil prices and collapse in U.S. stock exchanges influenced Turkey as well. The Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB) National-100 Index dropped 749.55 points and closed at 35,829.40 points yesterday. Interest rates increased 0.25 points and reached 22.33 percent.

TWO MORE TURKS TO NBA
Two more Turkish basketball players have been drafted by NBA clubs for the 2008-2009 season. The Boston Celtics, champion of the 2007-2008 season, selected Semih Erden from Fenerbahce Ulker club. Also Portland Trail Blazers drafted Omer Asik of Fenerbahce Ulker.

Constitutional Court completed its financial inspection on main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP). Court discovered 930,000 YTL (930 billion former Turkish lira) of irregularity in years 1998, 2004, 2005 and 2006. The court ruled that properties belonging to CHP worth of 930,000 YTL would be seized and handed over to the Treasury.
