Turkey's prime minister due to Syria
Turkey's prime minister will pay a formal visit to Syria on Thursday, his office said on Wednesday.

Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan will be the guest of Syrian President Bashar al-Asad during his visit to Damascus, and he will participate in a quartet summit where developments in the Middle East will be discussed.
Al-Asad will host the meeting as the current president of the Arab League. President Nikolas Sarkozy of France, holding the rotating presidency of the European Union (EU), and Amir Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani of Qatar, holding the presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Council, will also attend the meeting.
Erdogan will return to Turkey after participating in a fast-breaking dinner to be hosted by al-Asad.
