"Turkey's export to China exceeded 1 billion dollars"
Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said on Friday that Turkey's export amount to China, which was 550 million USD in 2005, exceeded one billion USD in 2007 for the first time.

Tuzmen and Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, participated in Turkish-Chinese Trade & Economic Opportunities Forum in Istanbul.

Tuzmen said that Turkey's export to China increased 50 percent in January-September, 2008 when compared to the same period of 2007. He added that they expected the export rate to reach 1.5 billion USD by the end of 2008.

Qinglin also said that the trade volume between the two countries in 2007 was 10 billion USD. He added that this figure was expected to reach 13 billion USD in 2008.

He said that cooperation on mining, railway and electricity sectors between the two countries was developing.
