As well as Turkey's President Abdullah Gul, President's of Ukraine, Georgia, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and Romania will attend the summit which will be hosted by Azarbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev.
President Gul and Turkey's Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Aliyev.
Diversification of energy sources, energy security, and possible routes of pipelines that would carry caspian energy resources to the west, will be discussed during the summit where the U.S., Kazakhstan and several other countries in the region will be represented on a ministerial level.
The summit is important for Azerbaijan as it would create an opportunity to assess new means of transporting its hydrocarbon energy resources to the West.
With the participation of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, the summit might also contribute Azerbaijan to become an energy hub as well as an energy provider, in meeting energy needs of Eurasia.
While diversification of energy resources constitutes the most important issue for Baltic participants, Ukraine and Poland want the Odessa-Brodi-Gdansk line to be completed and included in the Caspian-European transport route.
