International Public Relations Association (IPRA) decided to award Turkey's leading GSM operator Turkcell for its success in "Translating Performance into Value", a statement from the company said on Saturday.
The company value of Turkcell increased to 28 billion YTL (1 USD amounts to 1.3 YTL) in 2007 and it is currently the most valuable firm in Turkey, the statement also said.
Turkcell will be presented with IPRA's "Golden World Award" at a ceremony to be held in the British capital, London on June 10th, 2008.
Turkcell is the leading mobile communications provider in Turkey with 35.4 million subscribers as of December 31st, 2007. It is not only the leading operator in Turkey, but also the second biggest GSM operator in Europe in terms of subscriber numbers.
IPRA, formally constituted in 1955, is a professional association for senior international public relations executives working all over the world. The promotion of higher standards and ethical conduct in the practice of public relations is a major objective for the association.
The "IPRA Golden World Awards" initiative, established in 1990, recognises excellence in public relations practice worldwide.
