Replying a question on the talks, Babacan said that the fifth round of talks could be held soon, and both countries had the political will to pursue talks.

Babacan, who is currently in New York for UN General Assembly meetings, said that as long as the talks continued, Turkey was asked to carry out its role in the talks.

Babacan said that Syria and Israel wanted to carry out the talks under Turkey's auspices, but when direct talks started, other countries could also be involved.

Babacan said that Syrian-Israeli talks could influence other important issues in the Middle East. He noted that the real issue in the Middle East was Palestinian-Israeli problem, and Turkey wanted this problem to be solved.
