Turkey's Foreign Minister Ali Babacan attended the extraordinary meeting of the COE foreign ministers on Wednesday in which the ministers debated the situation in Georgia, spokesman Burak Ozugergin told reporters.
The ministers discussed whether or not Russia's activities in Georgia were in line with the principles of COE.
Turkey expressed Turkey's views about the developments in the Caucasus in the meeting, the spokesman said.
On the sidelines of the 63rd session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, Babacan met his Kazakh counterpart Marat Tazhin, and thanked him for Kazakhstan's support for the summit of Turkish language speaking countries.
In the meeting, Babacan expressed Turkey's support for Kazakhstan's initiative to form of a group of eminent persons in the Turkish world and the two ministers exchanged views on the situation in the Caucasus.
Babacan also met Foreign Minister Roger Haroldo Rodas of Guatemala, and proposed to set up a joint economic cooperation between the two countries.
In their meeting, the two ministers agreed to train diplomats of Guatemala in the Turkish Foreign Affairs Academy.
Rodas said that Turkey should be included in the economic cooperation system in Central America.
Babacan also participated in a meeting of the Jammu-Kashmir contact group of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) on Wednesday, and expressed Turkey's wish that concerned parties would reach a satisfactory peace.
