Turkey forecasts 13.3 billion liras budget deficit in 2009
Turkey forecasts a budget deficit of 13.3 billion Turkish liras (TL) in 2009, according to a draft budget submitted to the parliament. (One USD is 1.495 new Turkish liras-YTL)

The government presented the draft budget for 2009 to the Office of Parliament Speaker on Monday, and forecast 13.3 billion TL of deficit.

The draft budget foresees 248.7 billion TL of revenues and 282.1 billion TL of expenditures in 2009.

According to the draft, the primary surplus will be 44.1 billion TL in 2009.

The budget sets growth rate target as 4 percent and year-end inflation target as 7.5 percent in 2009.

Turkey's Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan will present the draft to the Planning & Budget Committee of the Turkish Parliament on October 23.

The draft budget has been prepared in TL since TL will replace the YTL as of the beginning of 2009.
