A senior executive of Turkey's Civil Aviation Department recently visited Malaysia, and had talks with civil aviation authorities of that country, a statement by the department said.

The Turkish executive reached an agreement with Malaysian authorities to increase direct flights between the two countries, and signed a memorandum of understanding in Putrajaya city of Malaysia.

According to the memorandum, the number of flights between Turkey and Malaysia will be raised to four in a week in winter season. There will be daily flights between the two countries as of 2009-2010 IATA winter period.

Also, executives revised the actual aviation agreement between the two countries, and added new articles on aviation and flight safety and code sharing.

Turkish and Malaysian authorities also agreed to cooperate in ground handling services, aircraft maintenance, training, engineering and other technical matters, and decided to recognize each other's licences and certificates.

Turkey's Civil Aviation Department had earlier signed agreements with Syria, Sri Lanka, Austria, Kyrgyzstan, Singapore, Bahrain, Russia, Iran, Uzbekistan, New Zealand and Spain.
