Top female police officer shot dead in Afghanistan
The senior most female police officer in southern Afghanistan was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Sunday, witnesses said.

Lieutenant-Colonel Malalai was killed in her car in an area of Kandahar city.
Witnesses said her son was wounded in the attack.
Officials are yet to confirm the killing.
Malalai, 45, resumed her post of officer US-led forces overthrew the Taliban government. She had led many police house searches in Kandahar leading to seizure of arms and drugs in recent years.
