Breaking her silence after the heavy criticism to Zaman newspaper, Ozbek said “ I have been praying five times a day for a long time. I try to perform the rituals of my religion as much as I can do. I think that it is the time for me to quit my volleyball life that I have been maintaining so condensed since I was 13 years old. I want them to respect my decison and however I am not interrupting anyone, I do not want anyone to interrupt me. Eventually wearing hijab is a part of our religion and the traditons of our country.”
