Parents warned on dangerous toy
Queensland Fair Trading officers are urging parents to throw out a toy that was recalled this month due to concerns it could cause a serious eye injury.

The toy is a ball popper from a "pop and catch'' toy set, which consists of the blue popper, a red basket catcher and a white ping pong ball.

It was recalled nationally earlier this month, but some children may still have the toy.

Queensland Attorney-General Kerry Shine said the toy was found on sale at the Toowoomba show in April, and was sold with DMag magazine in supermarkets and news agencies this month.

Mr Shine said the toy was removed from sale in both cases.

"Testing revealed that the toy failed mandatory safety requirements for projectile toys because it was able to fire objects at such a force that it posed as a serious eye injury hazard,'' he said.

"Under the Fair Trading Act, traders are required to ensure the products they sell meet mandatory safety standards.''
