Minister Guler who met Iran's Energy minister Parviz Fatah on the 3rd day of his visit to this country, said the two countries could jointly undertake bigger projects.

He said transportation of Iranian natural gas to Europe through Turkey would be a turning point in relations.

Guler said Turkey planned to make 120 billion USD of investment to solar, wind and geothermal energy systems until 2020 and noted that the two countries could cooperate in the field of renewable energy.

In his part, Fatah said the current determination and will of both parties to cooperate in the energy sector was a historic opportunity that was beneficial for the people of Turkey and Iran.

Delegations headed by Guler and Iran's Minister of Petroleum, Qolam Hosein Nozari, are still negotiating Turkey's recent demand to increase the amount of natural gas purchased from Iran.

Guler had earlier announced that Turkey would soon increase the daily amount of natural gas purchased from Iran, to 50 million cubic meters.

Guler is also expected to meet Iran's Foreign Minister Manuchehr Motaki, later in the day.

Iran had earlier announced that Turkey was the key country in transporting its natural gas to Europe and said pipeline over Turkey was their priority.

Turkey and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding in July 2007 foreseeing joint energy investment, transportation of Iranian Natural Gas to Europe through Turkey and transportation of Turkmen gas to Europe over Turkey and Iran and enhancement of cooperation in oil trade.

Iran is home to the second largest natural gas reserves in the world after Russia.
