Turkey's Land Forces Commander Gen. Ilker Basbug conferred Turkish Armed Forces' Medal of Merit to General Carlos Villar Turrau, Chief of the Spanish Army Staff, in Ankara on Wednesday.

Gen. Turrau was welcomed with full military honors by Gen. Basbug at the Land Forces HQ.

Gen. Turrau was decorated with the medal of merit due to his contributions to friendly ties and cooperation between Turkey and Spain.

Delivering a brief speech at the ceremony, Gen. Turrau said he felt proud of receiving this medal and it would help boost the bilateral cooperation.
