"We are continuing rescue operations to see if anyone may be still buried under the debris," said an emergencies ministry spokesman from the regional centre of Osh.

The 6.3 magnitude earthquake was felt throughout Central Asia late on Sunday.

A 5.7 magnitude earthquake was also felt in China's remote northwestern region of Xinjiang minutes after the first earthquake struck Kyrgyzstan.

Chinese state media said there were no immediate reports of casualties.
