A total number of eight teams from various countries, including Islamic Republic of Iran, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Syria, and Algeria will compete in the tournament.

Being held by the Islamic Federation of Women’s Sports (IFWS) and sponsored by the Islamic Republic of Iran Football Federation (IRIFF), the tourney seeks to remove any restrictions on news coverage of Muslim women sports’ events.

It also aims to attract financial supporters in a bid to expand professional sports of Muslim women.

The championships are to be judged by female international referees.

To keep the referees fully informed of new rules and regulations, a one-day re-education workshop is also to be held prior to the championships.

Women's football has become a worldwide sporting phenomenon and a key driver of growth for the sport of football all around the world.

Today, some 26 million women and girls play football and one in every ten football players on the planet is female. Women's football is growing not only in absolute terms each year, but also in parts of the world where it has perhaps not been traditionally strong
