India and Pakistan are set to resume talks this week, as Pakistan gears up for the arrival of the Indian foreign minister.

Indian External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will meet his Pakistani counterpart, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, on Wednesday.

This will be his first meeting with Pakistan’s new civilian government.

The two sides are expected to review a peace process that has stalled for more than a year.

The South Asian rivals began peace efforts in 2004 but have made little progress over their main issue of Kashmir, the divided Muslim-majority Himalayan region they both claim.

India will be determining who is in charge in Pakistan during these latest talks, which may also open doors for a higher meeting between both countries, analysts have said
