Dogan told reporters after TFF Board of Executives meeting in Istanbul that Terim agreed to stay in his post until 2012.

"We had a contract with him due 2010. I offered him to extend it for two more years till 2012. He said he was happy to serve as coach... and accepted to continue coaching the national team," said Dogan.

Dogan said national team's success in Euro 2008 was important for them and added that they were working to make it permanent.

He pointed out that this success did not solve any of the prevailing problems of Turkish soccer and said, "we should not view ourself any different than we truly are and keep our feet down on earth."

Dogan referred to the 2010 World Cup qualifying rounds due to begin in September and pointed out that Euro 2008 Champion, Spain was in the same group with Turkey.

"Only one team from this group will directly qualify to compete in the World Cup. We will play our first game in the qualifying round against Armenia. Therefore we should prepare our team for this tournament with haste," said Dogan.
